Anyone else have somewhere they feel most alive, a place that feels like home and brings out all the best feelings? For me, it is definitely the beach. I love rolling around in the sand, exploring the diverse surroundings like dunes, tall grasses, rock walls, bluffs and driftwood. I am forever inspired when I am at the beach. It is so versatile and beautiful year round, unlike wooded or grassy landscapes that change color with the seasons. As a photographer, I couldn’t dream up a better location for sessions than the beach! If you can bear the cold, the sunsets are the most vibrant in the winter and it was the picture perfect backdrop for Bella’s portrait session at Pajaro Dunes in Santa Cruz County, CA.
Bella was the sweetest soul. Angelic and kind, she literally danced and floated through the landscape. Even though she’s never posed before, she’s an absolute natural and born model. Every camera click, she would just simply adjust and re-pose. It was a joy shooting her and full of laughs while we both splashed in the cold waves. She was a total trooper! I will never forget how we both smiled through walking over sharp driftwood and trying to stay warm, it was such a fun session!
I simply love this gallery. From the gorgeous golden light to the movement of the tall grasses and Bella’s hair in the wind, it was stunning. Bella perfectly coordinated her outfits and accessories for different looks that melted into the scenery. The images immediately take me back to the salty air, warm sun and the sound of rolling waves. There’s nothing quite like beach and the joy it brings out of people.
